This week saw Minehead A team hosting Williton A team in the West Somerset Miniature Rifle League and Williton B team hosting Minehead B.

The battle of the A teams saw victory go to Minehead by 378 to 369 with Bill Smyth scoring 97 and Mark Parfrey 96.

For the Williton A team Graham Scott top-scored with 94.

Minehead A also won the Handicap leg despite both teams shooting below their average.

Meanwhile at Williton there was a closer match between the two B teams with Williton running out as winners scoring 371 to Minehead’s 366.

In this match John Putt and Malcolm Burt shooting for Minehead both achieved the same scores at the same time but only one score could be included so a toss of a coin resulted in John Putt’s score being included in the overall team score.

This is the first time that a toss of a coin has had to be used to separate competitors.

In the Handicap leg Williton B also won because they exceeded their average which Minehead did not.

For Williton Eric Jones, John Newsome and Emily Plumbley all scored 93 with Steve Wilson supporting them with 92.

For Minehead Grahame Jones and Andrew Moore both scored 95 with Phil Hall supporting them with an excellent 89.

So at the end of Round 12 of the 18 round Match, Minehead A team are leading the Gunscore competition and WillitonB the Handicap competition.

Erica Jones from Williton leads the Ladies Match and Elliot Morren from Minehead the Junior Competition.

Next week sees everyone at Minehead for the first stage of the Carnarvon Cup.
