Sports Report – WSMRL Week 10
West Somerset Miniature Rifle League
Minehead Rifle Club and Williton Rifle Club resumed their contest after the Christmas break. All teams shot on their home ranges to ease them back into the competition. Williton A team scored 381 against Williton B’s 375. However Williton B won the handicap competition because they scored higher than their average whereas Williton A scored just below, John Grellier achieved an excellent 97 for Williton A and Alan Coomber shot well for Williton B with 96.
Minehead A team took on Minehead B team. An excellent team performance saw Minehead A score 386 compared to Minehead B’s 368. In addition Minehead A scored above their average unlike Minehead B so won that competition as well. Bill Smyth scored 98 and Adam Booker 97 for Minehead A team. Minehead C team were competing against themselves and exceeded their average with 374 so were winners in both gun score and handicap. Pippa Sullivan with 96, Andrew Moore with 95 and John Putt with a consistent 93 all contributed to an excellent all round performance.
At the end of Round 10 of the 18 Round Competition, Minehead A and Williton A are joint leaders in the gun score competition whilst Minehead B is narrowly in front of Williton B team in the handicap competition.
