West Somerset Miniature Rifle League

Minehead Rifle Club and Williton Rifle Club have now completed Round 5 of the 18 round West Somerset League. This time Minehead B team travelled to the Williton range to compete against the Williton A team. Not unexpectedly Williton A won by 11 points scoring a very creditable total of 386 out of 400 compared with 375 from Minehead B. For Williton A Erica Jones scored 98 with Jan Saunders-Singer just behind with 97. Elliot Morren scored 97 which helped Minehead B team to win the handicap competition.

Minehead A team took on Minehead C team. Again Minehead A substantially outscored Minehead C team,with a total of 387 compared to 376 for Minehead C. Bill Smyth with 98 and Brian Slade with 97 were the star performers for Minehead A team, Pippa Sullivan with 97 and John Putt with 95 shone for Minehead C and as a result of their good scores Minehead C team won the Handicap competition.

Williton B team had a bye scoring 374 which was also higher than their average with scores of 95 for Alan Coomber and Andy Phillips.

Next week sees the second stage of the Clegg Cup shot over 50 metres on the Minehead Range.
